Colorado Rockies Trip

Every year we say we're going to get to a Rockies game at the first of the season so we don't get to the end of the year and stress about when/if we're going to make it.  Well, we had good intentions and even tried a couple times but flights were bad or something else came up so we still ended up going on the last week of the season...but we made it!  We've gone to a game every year since Halen's been born (except the year Mia was born) so we really wanted to make it this year too.

It was going to work out great because we took the kids out of school early to take the direct flight to Denver out of St George and got in about 3:00.  We had a car rented through a company who rents to only military and airline employees which we were excited about because we got a car through them for about $30 and everything we'd seen in town was around $100 for a day.  Well, no one told us that the place closes at 4:00 and by the time we rode a shuttle for a half hour to get there, it was 4:05 and they were gone.  We called to see if they'd come back since we only missed it by 5 minutes but the guy was really rude and said we should have known they would be closed and we should have called.  So we didn't know what to do.  We knew we'd either have to fork out $100+ for a car or we take the late flight back to St. George.  Randy & I hurried and pulled out our phones to see what we could find for cars all the while praying for something to work out because we didn't want to spend that much $ and didn't want to go home without making it to the game.  I don't know how (miracles do happen) but I found a car for $35 so I hurried and booked it.  Randy wasn't finding anything under $120 and when I looked again, I couldn't find anything cheaper either.  So someone was definitely watching out for us.

The only drawback now was that we had to shuttle a half hour back to the airport and drive a half hour back into town which took up the time we had to get some dinner which was a huge bummer for the kids because we always go to Cici's Pizza and they were really looking forward to it.  So we just got something quick to eat on the go and still got to the game late...but we made it.
We always take a pic in this spot but since we were in a hurry it didn't turn out too good :(
We made it to the Rockies

Mia wasn't excited to meet Dinger but the rest of us like him
We sat in the Rock Pile for the first time and I guess it was ok for only spending a dollar a seat but it's just on bleachers and I'm old enough now that I like to have a backrest so next time we'll pay a little more. :)
We brought ring pops to keep them entertained :)
Aunt Jolene made this cute hair bow for Mia
Even though the Rockies lost to the Pirates 9-3, we still had a good time.  We knew they'd probably lose since the Pirates had had a good year but we can always hope that the Rockies will show up to play.  It was late when we got back to the car but there was a McDonald's by our hotel so we stopped to get a parfait before we went to bed.  They had this cool table that lights up and changes colors when you touch it.  The kids had a blast playing with it...ok, Randy and I had fun with it too. :)

We got back to the hotel and pretty much crashed because we were so tired.  We got up the next morning and got some breakfast at the hotel before heading back to the airport to catch our flight that was about 11:00.  We got back to St George a little before 1:00 so we just dropped Randy off at work and went home to relax and do homework for the rest of the afternoon.  It was an extremely quick trip but one that the kids always look forward to and I'm glad we could make that memory with them.  Can't wait to go again next year.
