We tried so hard to get our trip to Denver in earlier in the year than we have been going but it just didn't happen. We always say, "next year we're going to go in the spring" but something always pushes the trip back til the end of the baseball season then we're scrambling to make it. But at least we made it. Because of how the flights worked out, we had to go on Friday instead of Saturday so I took Halen out of school an hour early on the first to catch the flight. I love that they have a direct flight from St G to Denver now.
Once we landed in Denver, we rented our car and headed into town. It was raining on the drive and you could tell it was hitting downtown pretty hard. We had checked the weather before leaving and there was only supposed to be a 10% chance so we didn't think it would be too bad. We had about 3 hours til game time so we prayed it would let up by then.
Part of our tradition on this trip is to take the kids to Cici's Pizza. It's not my favorite pizza but they do have yummy cinnamon rolls. :) After lunch/dinner we went to check into the hotel and change for the game. It rained the time we ate and on the drive to the stadium. But we lucked out and by the time we parked, it had stopped and it didn't rain again all night.

This was Mia's first Rockies game because she stayed with grandma & grandpa Ogden last year so I worried how she'd be but she did great. She didn't get a nap because we were on the plane so she fell asleep sitting on Randy's lap. He put her in the stroller and she got a little nap during the game.
Unfortunately the Rockies lost the game but we had a great time anyway. The boys...including Randy...look forward to this trip every year so we still had fun. Randy & I didn't get much sleep that night because we had Mia between us in bed and Halen decided to pull one of his sleep-walking acts in the middle of the night (he tried to go out in the hall but luckily the door stop didn't let him open it and Randy heard him trying to open it).
Saturday morning we had a quick breakfast at the hotel then headed to the airport. I wish the direct flight got into Denver a little earlier and left a little later than it's scheduled right now but oh well...what do you do? We were only gone for 24 hours so it was a fast trip but something the kids remember. We can't wait to go again next year and hopefully we can make it there earlier in the year. :)
