24th of July

We went up to Enterprise again for the 24th of July celebration.  Randy doesn't get the day off of work and had a bunch of stuff to do so he worked half a day and came up in time for lunch.  But the kids and I got up there in time for the parade at 9:00.  Great grandpa Singleton and Elva were the only ones there before us to save spots so we seat up our chairs and blankets and waited for everyone else to finally get there.  Most of them did the Fun Run so they take a while getting showered and ready for the day but they made it just in time.

After the parade, Mia and I went with my mom and Marsha to the program to watch Cassidy do her part.  They asked her to read a paragraph from our great, great grandma Simkins' journal from when she was about 8 years old.  Cassidy was really nervous but walked out on the stage fine.  The only problem was that the microphone wasn't working so even though she had her part memorized and said it right, no one heard her. :(  Oh well, what do you do?

After that we hung around my parents house for a while until it was time to go down to great grandma Simkins' for our annual cookout to celebrate my grandpa's birthday.  He would have been 94.  He's been gone for 7 years already...I miss him so much!  But lunch was good and it was fun catching up with some of the cousins.

Then it was off to the races.  We watched all the little 1 and 2 year old cousins race then Mia was up.  She had broken her shoes during lunch so she had to run barefoot and she was a little worried about doing that but she did fine.

After the races we just hung around at my parents house again and had a little dinner before heading out to the rodeo.  The boys were hoping Luke would bring his horses again this year but Bobbi's grandma passed away earlier in the week so they went to go to St George for the viewing that evening.  Maybe we'll have to go to Cedar to ride the horses.  But they still had fun watching the roping and, of course, the bull riding.  It's great family fun...except those benches are really hard.
