Trafalga & Weekend with Cousins

Randy's brother, Ryan, and his family come out from Florida to visit for a couple weeks every July so we got to hang out with them for a little while.  They came to St George for a few days and we went swimming, to the movies (Despicable Me 2) and let the kids play together.  Then a week or so later, we went up to the cabin in Midway to see them and the rest of the family.  Randy was asked to play in a golf tournament for work up in Salt Lake on Friday morning so we went up Thursday night.  He golfed Friday morning then came up to the cabin to get us and we went to Trafalga in Lehi for the rest of the day.

The boys were so excited to go mini golfing and play the arcade games.  The last few times we had been to Trafalga, the water boats weren't working but they were going this time and Alex jumped at the chance to go.  Halen on the other hand wasn't so sure.  So Halen and I watched while dad and Alex had all the fun.
I love the excited look that Alex has Ü
Dad made sure Halen got wet though
Couldn't talk Halen into going on the mini Tidal Wave either but Alex had fun
On Saturday, we all drove over to Heber and had lunch at Dairy Keen then we went to Park City to go ride the Alpine Slide.  Grandma & grandpa talked us into leaving Mia and Ty with them so they could have a nap.  I was worried that Halen would really go through with the slide so we talked to him about it and made it sound fun and he was really excited to go.

Our first time on a ski lift
We got to the top of the ski lift and got our sleds and started hauling them to the slide.  Alex was short enough that he could ride with someone but Halen was just over the limit so he would have to ride his own sled.  That worried me a little and I was praying Halen would be OK with it once it came time to actually go down the slide.  Well...that didn't happen.  We got to the slide and there's one designated for slow riders only so Halen and Randy went to that one.  Alex and I got in the line right next to them.  Halen wouldn't even get on his sled and was starting to panic on us.  We tried and tried to talk to him but he wasn't going to do it.  We told him this was the only way down but he didn't care...he was determined not to go down the slide.

Eventually we decided that maybe Alex & I should start down the slide and show Halen how easy it was to stop and slow down any time you wanted.  So we got on our sled and started down.  We showed Halen that we could stop and go and Randy said just to go down and he'd get him down somehow.  So Alex & I took off.
I was able to get fairly good pic on the way down
Alex & I had so much fun going down the slide.  If it didn't cost so much to do it, we would have gone down again.  Once we got to the bottom we waited for everyone else to come down.  Ryan, Rochele, Chase, Zac & Cael all came down and still no Halen or Randy.  They all said it didn't look like Halen would be coming down any too soon when they headed down the slide so I didn't know what to think.  We waited for a little bit then I called Randy to see what we should do.  He said they were just about to head down but that they would be going slow.  So we waited and waited and waited.  After about 5 minutes, a worker came down the slide and we asked if he saw Halen and Randy.  He said he saw them but they were still at the top and coming REALLY slowly.  So we waited some more.

Finally we saw 2 people coming down the slide one right behind the other...going VERY, VERY slowly.  We were all yelling and cheering him on once we could see them.  It took forever for them to get to the bottom and I think Randy's nerves were frazzled but I was so proud of Halen for going down.  I know it took a lot for him to get up the nerve to get the courage to get on the sled so it was a tremendous victory for him to realize that he could do it.  Good job Halen!!!
Can you see them?
They finally made it!
Sunday morning we went to church in Midway.  Rhett's family came up to go to church with us.  Elder Jeffery R. Holland is in grandma and grandpa Ogden's ward there and it just happened to be a week that he was there so it was nice to see him on the stand.  He also took a few minutes at the end of sacrament meeting to bear his testimony.  I just love that man!  He brings such an amazing spirit with him.

After church, we all gathered at the cabin.  Misti and her family came up too.  She had a friend come up and take a few family pictures for us since this would be the last time we would all be together until after grandma and grandpa come back from their mission.

We had dinner and visited for a little while before we all started heading home.  It was nice to be together.  It's hard to think that it will be at least a year and a half before everyone can be together again.   We'll still get together for holiday's and in the summer but it will be different without grandma and grandpa being there.  We'll miss them but we're way excited for this new adventure.
