Denver Trip

We made our first trip to Denver to a Rockies baseball game when Halen was 7 months old.  We've gone to a game every year since then except for last year when Mia was born.  We wanted to make sure we got our trip in this year so Randy decided to take a day off work and we went the Monday before school started.  Grandma Ogden talked us into leaving Mia with her at the last minute so she didn't make the trip with us.  She'll for sure come next year...unless this turns into a boys only trip. Ü

SkyWest started a new direct flight from SGU to DEN in June and we were excited to try it out.  Usually we have to go from SGU to SLC and then on to DEN so it was really nice to got straight there and back.

We got to Denver about 3:00, got our rental car and checked into the hotel.  It's become a tradition now that we eat at Cici's Pizza (not my favorite but the boys like it) before we go to the game so we had lunch/dinner then headed to the stadium.
This picture has also become a tradition
Whose the black sheep in this picture? Ü
Matching shirts and everything
The view from our seats
We got seats more behind the plate and up higher to try to stay out of the sun but it was overcast and rainy so the seats actually turned out good because the roof kept us dry for the most part.  The edge of the roof was directly over us so our knees would get a little wet but nothing too bad.
Rain coming straight down in front of us
They played the game in the light rain for about an hour then the rain picked up and they decided to delay the game and the tarp came out.  I love watching the grounds crew pull that huge tarp over the infield.  This was actually my 2nd rain delay at Coors Field.  My first one was back in 1996 when I went to watch the Braves play with a couple friends.  We sat in almost the same spot as we did then...talk about déjà vu.
Good work guys!
Dad and his boys
We debated whether to stay when they started the rain delay since it was in the bottom of the 8th inning and the Rockies were beating the Padres 8-1 but we asked the boys what they wanted to do and they wanted to stay.  We decided that that was the reason we came so we stayed.  The rain delay only lasted about an hour.  We had to move back a couple rows because the wind shifted a little so the rain started coming in on us.  We didn't come prepared with umbrellas or even jackets so Alex got a little cold but the rest of us thought it felt nice.
Dinger came out with his umbrella hat on for the 9th inning
The teams came back and finished out the game and the Rockies didn't disappoint those who stayed.  Other than giving up a run, they hit a couple HR's and ended up winning 14-2.  Good job boys...see ya next year!
We got back to the hotel about 11:30 and settled into bed.  We had a quick breakfast at the hotel the next morning then checked out and headed back to the airport.  The flight home left about 11:00 and we were back in St George about 12:30 and Randy was back to work by 1:00.  After dropping him off at work, I went to get Mia from grandma and grandpa Ogden's.  She was so happy to see us.  I know she had fun with grandma and grandpa but I sure missed her.  It was a short trip but always fun memories.
