It seems like school started way early this year. It started on August 14...the day after we got back from Denver. Halen was less than excited about going back to school. He was nervous about having to go all day and he was upset that we didn't enroll him in the Chinese class. Our school participates in the dual immersion program and teaches the kids Chinese. We just didn't feel like it was the right thing for Halen so we didn't enroll him but he really wanted to learn another language. Randy's started teaching him some Japanese though so that has helped him cope with that part of it.

By the time we found a parking spot, got everyone unloaded from the car and walked to the back of the school, the bell had rung and Halen's teacher was just about ready to open the door for them to come in. He lined up with his class without any problem. I almost expected him to be a little hesitant but he did great.

I had to go turn in some stuff at the office so we walked through the school and just happened to walk by Halen's classroom. Ü

It's been a couple weeks now since school started and Halen's doing great. I ask him every day when I pick him up how school was and he started out always saying is was bad because it was long but the last few days he's said it was 'kind of good' so maybe it's not seeming like the day is so long now. Recess is, of course, his favorite part of the day.
