Simkins Family Christmas Party

We had our Simkins Family Christmas party a couple weeks before Christmas.  We had the church gym reserved for it but unfortunately there ended up being a funeral that day that needed the space so we took our party upstairs to the primary room.  I hadn't been up there for quite a long time and boy did it bring back some memories.

First up, grandma had some crafts for the kids to do so they were kept busy putting together a Christmas train and a little nativity set that were so cute.
The adults were needed for most of the craft
Alex was in charge of the wheels on the train
Halen was pretty serious about figuring it out on his own
The final product
Next, we played some fun team games and with my family, it's always competitive.  One of the games was to see which team could stuff balloons down a pair of nylons and make the legs stand up straight on someones head.  Luke's team got the balloons in first but as you can see, the legs didn't go up very well so we say we won. :)

Alex was a good sport :)
We did a little white elephant game and ate some yummy food before going back to grandma and grandpa's house for dinner.  My grandma Simkins and grandpa Singleton and Elva came over for dinner and afterwards we had a special visitor...Santa!
Alex was excited to sit on Santa's lap
Halen putting in his order :)
We couldn't get Mia to even go close to Santa so I got her treat from him instead
Even grandma and grandpa got to get in on the fun
And of course, we can't have a Christmas party without acting out the nativity.  It took some convincing to get some of the kids to cooperate and get in "costume" but we finally got the story told for the most part.  With as many little kids as there are, it's pretty chaotic but hopefully they understood what we were trying to do.
Uncle Scott was nominated to be the donkey :)
Halen & Cassidy played Joseph & Mary
Mia, Hudson & Harper were angels
Alex was the only wise man
To end the evening, we opened the gifts.  We drew names between all the adults and did a gift exchange which was fun to see what everyone came up with.  It was such a fun party and it's always fun to get together even with all the chaos.  Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!
