Payson Temple/Mother's Day Weekend

As soon as the Payson Temple Open House tickets went live online at midnight, we started booking some because we knew we wanted to take the kids to it.  We didn't know which dates would work best for us so we booked times on 3 different Saturdays then talked with Rhett, Misty and grandma & grandpa Ogden to see if we could all go together.  We decided that Mother's Day weekend would work best for everyone so that's what we planned on...we just didn't plan on the rain.:(

The boys both had baseball games at 10:00 on Saturday morning so we headed out as soon as they were done.  It rained on us off and on all the way up but nothing too bad.  The plan was to meet everyone at Cafe Rio in Spanish Fork at 5 for dinner then go over to the temple for our reservation at 6:45.  We were the first ones there with Rhett not too far behind but we found out that Aspen got sick on the way so Misty and David had to take her back home and grandma and grandpa met them somewhere to bring Braxten and Paisley with them to the temple so they were a little bit late.

Dinner of course was yummy then we headed over to the temple.  We didn't want to drive up in our church clothes so we still had to change.  Randy & I have changed plenty of times in the car on our temple trips since we usually head straight to the temple from the airport but this time changing in the van with all 3 kids, in the rain, in the temple parking lot, was kind of a challenge...but we did it.

I feel so bad that it was raining as hard as it was because we couldn't get any pics of us outside the temple.  All 15 of us were huddled under about 4 umbrellas trying to stay dry in the line to go inside.  Since it was a Saturday there were a lot of people there and since it was raining they were kind of rushing us through so they could get people out of the rain.  I wish we could have spent more time looking at each room and explaining a little more to the kids.  But we had had an impromptu FHE the night before where we talked to the kids about temples and we had a really good discussion so they kind of knew what it was all about.

The inside was absolutely gorgeous!  As always, it didn't disappoint.  The windows were amazing and the furnishings added the perfect touch.  There were strands of crystals hanging on the arms of some of the couches and Mia made the comment that the couches were wearing necklaces. :)

 

Inside the tent they had set up outside they had a place set up where they took your picture in front of a picture of the temple then they emailed it to you.  Because of the rain, that's the only pic we got of us in "front" of the temple so I guess we'll take it.  We're just happy that we were able to take the kids through.  We can't wait to take them through the Provo City Center Temple next year.

After the temple, grandma and grandpa took Braxten and Paisley back home and we went with Rhett's family to get ice cream and visit for a little bit.  Then we headed up the canyon to the cabin.  It's the first time we've been there since last Memorial Day when we had the Simkins reunion there so it was nice to be back.  We would have liked to sit out on the deck after we put the kids to bed but it was still raining so we weren't able to...hopefully next time.

Sunday morning we got up and got ready to go to the 11:00 church in Midway.  They had a nice program for Mother's Day and gave all the mom some yummy chocolate-dipped pretzel sticks.  I wanted to take a pic of my kiddos for Mother's Day when we got back to the cabin but they weren't cooperating very well and was being kind of silly so these were about the best we could get.

 

David and Misty came over (Aspen stayed home) for a late lunch/early dinner with us before we headed home.  It was a quick trip but it was fun.  Randy had given me some beautiful flowers for Mother's Day before we left and I loved seeing them when we got home.  Then the kids had a couple other gifts for me to open too so it was a real fun weekend.  I sure love my kids and I'm glad I get to be their mom.
