Grandma & Grandpa Ogden turned their mission papers in back in the middle of March. We kind-of expected them to get their call about the end of April but there were some hold ups at the Stake Presidents office and the Mission office. They had put in to go on a 12-month mission and didn't care where they went...they were going to leave that up to the Mission office. They got a call from the office a little bit after mailing their papers in asking if they would be OK to go for 18 months. They were a little hesitant but they knew that if that's what they were needed to do they would do it. So they were kind-of expecting that to be the case.
They had been told that most calls had been coming in the mail on Fridays so when their call wasn't here the Friday before Memorial Day, we figured it wouldn't come until the following week. Grandma & Grandpa had gone up to the cabin for the weekend so they weren't even home when they got a call from the post office saying their call was there. So we went over to their house and got their mail for them and sure enough, it was there.
We set up a time that we could get on the computer and video conference with them and Randy's brother, Ryan's family. Then Randy did the honors of opening the envelope and reading to them where they would be serving.

Grandma & Grandpa will be serving in the New Hampshire, Manchester mission with their primary assignment being at Joseph Smith's birthplace in Sharon, VT. They will be serving an 18-month mission and will report to the MTC on August 26. They were pretty excited and was the rest of us. I was excited because that was Luke's mission and we got to go pick him up and tour around his mission as a family. We got to go to Sharon and it's a beautiful place. My cousin, AJ, is serving there right now and will be coming home in December so maybe they'll get to meet him. Randy & I went to Sharon during our trip to Boston for our 2nd anniversary. It's a place I want to take my kids and now it looks like we'll be doing that sooner rather than later. Ü

We're so excited for you grandma and grandpa! You're going to be great. We will miss you and we know you will miss the grandkids but just know you are setting a great example for them and we will all be blessed for your service. We love you!
