Spring Break - Day 1

For Spring Break last year, we were going to try to go to Disneyland but we decided at the last minute to go to Knott's Berry Farm instead.  That was a good choice for us last year but the kids have asked all year when we could go to Disneyland so we decided we would try it this Spring Break.  It's kind of sad really that Randy & I haven't been to Disneyland since we were in high school some 20+ years ago.  We've been to Disney World four times since we've been married but never been to Disneyland.  I guess that's what happens when you have family that lives in Orlando.  And we thought about going back there again but the boys wanted to go to Cars Land which they don't have at Disney World yet so I guess we'll have to make Orlando another trip.  Halen keeps telling us it's been since 2011 that we've been there so it's way past time to go back.  Mia hasn't even been there yet...how sad!

Anyway, I feel so bad that I never took a picture of it but made a paper chain countdown to Disneyland back on Martin Luther Kind Day in January so we had a good 6+ weeks of chain hanging on the hallway wall that the kids took turns taking one a day down.  At first it seemed like forever until the last one would be taken off but it came and now it's all over. :(

We have the early church this year so we decided that we could make it to our own ward before leaving for California.  It was NASCAR weekend in Las Vegas so we knew we had to get on the road as soon as possible after church so we pretty much had everything packed and ready Saturday night.  We came home and made a quick lunch and headed out about 1:30.  We made it through Vegas while the race was still going on so we did good but we hit all the traffic heading back to Cali from Vegas so just past the state line was fairly slow going the rest of the way to Orange Co.  My parents were headed on a trip to Costa Rica the same day and they hit right in the middle of the race traffic in Vegas and they said it was horrible so I'm glad we got through when we did.

California here we come!!!

We got into town about 7:00 and stopped to eat at Cici's Pizza, one of the kids favorites.  We aren't fast eaters for sure so it was after 8:00 before we started to the hotel that was about 40 minutes away.  The idea was to go swimming when we got there but by the time we got checked in and settled into our room, it was after 9:00 and we knew we had a big day the next day so I was the mean mom and didn't let them swim that day. :(  But it wasn't long after they got in bed that they fell asleep.

Randy and I had been watching the weather trying to decide what to do because it was supposed to rain all day on Monday.  We had 3-day tickets to Disneyland so we thought we'd do 2 days at Disney and 1 day at California Adventure and to use our Magic Morning there since we'd only be there one day.  But because of the rain, we decide to switch that plan at the last minute and use our Magic Morning at Disney the last day.  The majority of the rain was supposed to be in the morning so we decided to take it a little slower Monday morning and not get to the park right at opening and hope we'd miss most of the rain.  We made the right call.
