Sweden & Denmark Trip (Day 2)

After get caught up on a little bit of sleep, we drove about 20 miles north to see an old fort we had read about on the Internet. It was on its own island that we had to ferry across to get to. It was used as a fortress by a king in the 1700's then was turned into a prison during the 1800's. Now they give tours through it and do banquets and other events there.

I have to admit that I was a little creeped out while touring this fort. I think that was mostly for the fact that we were the only people in this huge place and just knowing what had gone on there in the past. But I'm glad we decided to go explore the inside and see the amazing views from the top. Sweden really is a beautiful country.

After leaving the fort, we drove about 200 miles down to Copenhagen, Denmark. The road we took was pretty close to the western coast most of the way and we could see the ocean for part of the drive. That part of the country was mostly farmland and not as forested as the eastern side.

We got to Copenhagen about 5:00 and checked into our hotel. We wanted to go to the 7:30 session at the temple and since it was less than 3 miles from our hotel we thought we would have plenty of time to get there. So we ran and got something to eat then came back to the hotel to change our clothes. We left the hotel just after 6:00 so that we could take some pictures at the temple before the session and before it got dark. Well, there was a wreck in the middle of an intersection that snarled traffic for quite a while and by the time we got through that, we knew we'd have to hurry to get our pics in. But, navigating roads in Copenhagen isn't that easy and when we got to the last turn on our directions, we couldn't find the road we were supposed to be on. We drove around for a half hour and started wondering if we'd even make it to the session at all. Finally we decided we were going to have to ask for directions if we had any hope of making it so we pulled over on a side road in a residential area that we had already been down before and hoped to find someone to ask. We know that there was some divine intervention that took place because when we looked up there was a big map of the city posted right by the car. Like I said, we had already been down this street once before and hadn't noticed any map, but there it was plain as day. We quickly found the road we needed (which we never would have found otherwise) and pulled up to the temple at 7:25. Luckily they held the session for a couple minutes while we got ready but we made it.
