Our Return to San Diego - Day 1

A few months ago, we started talking to the boys about what they wanted to do for their birthdays.  The suggestion was made that we go to Disneyland instead of having a friend birthday party and we thought sounded fun so we agreed.  We started making plans to go to LA but after our trip to San Diego in June and Halen being so sad that he didn't get to see the gorillas, orangutans or cougar, we started thinking maybe we we'd go back to San Diego.  Halen prayed every night that we could go back to San Diego and at first we kept telling him it wasn't going to happen but then we heard about how San Diego does a kids free thing in October to places like the zoo, Sea World, Legoland, and other attractions around the city.  We asked the boys what they thought about going to LEGOLAND instead of Disneyland and they were actually really excited so we switched gears.  It actually worked really well because Mia is too little to ride many things at Disneyland and I want to go when she's a little older.

So, we picked dad up right after work on Friday and headed out.  We decided to drive this time because by the time we rented a car for the amount of time we needed it would cost us about as much in gas to just drive and this way we wouldn't be tied to a flight schedule.  The kids did really well.  Mia got a little restless after a while but was good for the most part.

We stayed in Victorville, CA that night and left early the next morning for our big day at Legoland. We got there not long after it opened and the boys were so excited.  Halen had his 3DS out video taping things as we drove to the parking lot and had a little narration to go with it.  Maybe he'll be a film director some day. Ü

Our tickets included a park hopped to the Sea Life aquarium so we headed there first.  There's just something calming about watching fish swim around.

After the aquarium, we started riding some rides.  The lines were a little longer than I hoped they'd be but what do you expect on a Saturday.  Oh well, we still got to ride everything we wanted.  They also had trick-or-treating stations through the park where the kids could pick up some goodies so that was fun for them.

They had a big fireworks show at the end of the night which all my boys (Randy especially) love.  Mia on the other hand did not.  She cried through the whole thing.  It was a long day and our feet hurt but we had a lot of fun.  We were all looking forward to our bed at the hotel that night though.
