On Saturday, we hit downtown Dallas. Since we didn't know where we were going until about 12 hours before we left, we didn't get to do a lot of research on what there was to do so we improvised. We did know that there was an observation tower so we planned to go up it and see Dallas from above, but when we got there it was closed for remodeling (just our luck Ü). So we just got a pic from below the tower:
Another thing we knew Dallas was famous for was the assassination of John F. Kennedy. We made our way to Elm Street where the incident happened and took a tour of the School Book Depository building where it's said that Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly shot and killed the president. There is a museum set up on the sixth floor where he shot from the corner window which was very interesting but they wouldn't let us take any pictures so I have nothing to really show for it except the outside of the building.
We were able to walk down the streets where JFK's motorcade drove and saw the "X" on the road where the fatal shot occured.
There are a lot of theories as to what really happened; who shot him, who was involved, where the shot(s) came from, how many shots there were, etc. One theory is that he was shot from the front from the 'grassy knoll" on the side of the road. They even have it marked as that.
We had to get up early to catch our flight home on Sunday morning so we didn't get to catch up on as much sleep as we hoped we would, but it was nice to get away for a little bit with just the two of us. Hopefully we'll get to do it again sometime soon. Thanks to Grandma & Grandpa Simkins for watching our boys while we were off playing. I know they had a GREAT time!

The "Big D"
Randy & I were finally able to get away on a quick trip without the kids last weekend. We didn't really have a destination in mind until the night before because we're at the mercy of the flights, but we ended up going to Dallas. We dropped the kids off with my dad Friday morning and headed off to the "Big D". Everyone we talked to there was so nice. They were very friendly and helped out with whatever we needed.
Once we got there, we got our car, checked into the hotel and caught a session at the temple. It's set up quite a bit like the Las Vegas temple if you've ever been there. It's always fun for us to do a session at different temples and see the colors decor and architecture they use. Dallas was Randy's 29th temple and my 25th...he obviously went to a few before we were married. Ü
