Spring Break - San Antonio, TX - Days 3 & 4

Monday morning we woke up to another cool, overcast day and I was wishing I had my jacket.  But by that afternoon I was glad I didn't have to figure out where to put it while we were at Sea World cause it got warm real quick.  We got to the park right as it opened and we were all pretty excited.  We hadn't been to Sea World since we had been to Orlando when Alex was a baby.

Halen was pumped to go start riding the big roller coasters but we wanted to ease Alex & Mia into the rides so we started with the Shamu ride and it quickly became Mia's favorite.

Halen and dad were wanting to ride the big rides so we split up to make the most of our time and met back up to watch a couple of the shows. We tried to get Alex to ride the coasters but he was a little nervous about it so he stayed with Mia and I.

The Great White was one of Halen's favorite rides along with the Steel Eel

We finally met up with dad and Halen to watch the Shamu show.  The stadium wasn't huge so we got to sit pretty close to the action but not so close that we got wet. :)  They are amazing animals.

After Shamu, we went over to watch the dolphin and beluga whale show.  The dolphins are so cute and some of my favorite sea creatures.

We only had about an hour left until the park closed once the dolphin show was over so we split up again went back and rode the rides we wanted one last time.  I went with Halen this time and rode the coasters and they were pretty fun.  And of course we had to ride Shamu one more time. ;)

The park closed at 6:00 which we thought was kinda early but this Sea World is a LOT smaller than the one in Orlando so we were able to ride and see everything we wanted.  Our feet were tired and we were hungry so we were ok to leave at 6:00.

We went and got dinner before going back to the hotel for the night.  We checked our flight home and realized real quick that it was going to be a struggle to get home. :(  We put the kids to bed while Randy & I stayed up until 2am trying to figure out routes to get home.  We finally decided our best option was to take the 6am flight out of San Antonio to Houston and hoped we could find something from there.  So after only a couple hours of sleep, we got everyone up early to head to the airport.

From Houston, we caught a flight to Detroit and had to wait there for about 4 hours while we debated about which flight to take from there.  It's a good thing we all had our electronic devices or we wouldn't have survived the long wait in the airport.  You can only walk up and down the terminals so long with kids.

We finally decided to take a flight to Denver and hopefully could go straight to St G from there but once we were in Denver, it looked like only 4 of us could make the St G flight and we didn't want to split up so we flew to Salt Lake and could have made the flight to St G from there but Randy's parents had a car in Salt Lake that they needed brought to St G so we decided to help them out by driving it down for them.  So after leaving our hotel at 4:30am, sitting in 5 airports, taking 4 different flights across the country and driving 4 hours home, we were ready for bed when we got home at 1am!  But that's all part of the adventure and we'll all remember this trip for many reasons.  I'm just glad we didn't have school the next day.
