Pine Valley

The week after the reunion my mom invited everyone up to Pine Valley to come hang out for the day or stay overnight if we wanted.  Since my dear hubby is so big into camping, my boys have never slept in a tent before and they were excited to try it...as long as I stayed in the tent with them. :)  So we packed up Monday morning and headed up the mountain.  It was nice to get out of the heat for a little while.  The kids had a blast playing in the creek and the "adults" sat around and visited all afternoon.  Once they got off work, Randy, Ben & Scott drove up to have dinner with us.

The guys left just as it was getting dark and the rest of us went for a walk to see if we could see any deer.  We got to see several deer which was fun for everyone except Mia.  She wasn't excited to see them at all and scared them away before they would get too close. :(  We roasted a few marshmallows when we got back to camp and visited for a while til it was time for bed.  My grandpa was nice enough to let us use one of his big tents that was big enough to fit the 2 boys on their mats, Mia in her pack & play and my king size blow up mattress.  The kids slept great and thought sleeping the tent was pretty fun.

Tuesday morning we got up and made a yummy breakfast on the grill.  There's nothing like bacon, eggs and pancakes cooked outside.  It's one of my favorite things ever.  We let the kids play for a while longer while we packed up camp and headed for home.  It was a short stay and we decided next time we would stay longer but it was a nice, relaxing little get away and fun to hang out with family.

I so remember going camping in Pine Valley with my grandpa! What sweet memories!!! It is kind of sad that my kids don't have those memories like I had....I guess I need to kick it in gear! We may try the train thing too! That sounded like fun except for the 2 hour wait! :)
