The first weekend in August was our Simkins family reunion. We thought it would be fun to go back to Midway like we did last year and stay at Randy's parents cabin. They were nice enough to let us come back and we can't thank them enough. We had such a great time hanging out with each other and the cabin is always a fun place to be.
We got to Midway about 10:00 Thursday night, watched a little bit of the London Olympics and went to bed. Friday morning, we took our time getting ready then drove to Provo to celebrate Luke's birthday and pay up on Bobbi's win for our March Madness contest. Bobbi chose to go to Tucano's which is one of Luke's favorite places so it worked for both.
After lunch we went over to the Scera Park pool in Orem to cool off a little. The kids had a great time playing in the kid pool and at the splash pad. The older "boys" had a good time having diving contests and racing down the slides.

After swimming, we headed back to the cabin to enjoy the evening. The guys had fun playing in their horse shoe tournament (congrats Luke & Brent) while the kids played in the sand and the swing set. The girls made a little dinner and visited.
Saturday morning the guys got up real early to go golfing at Wasatch State Park. We waited too long to call to get the tee time so the only time they had left was 6:50 am. A few of them didn't know if they wanted to get up that early but they all went and they all had fun. It was my dad's first time golfing so he was pretty excited to go try it out.
After the guys got back, we made breakfast then the girls went into Midway and Heber to do a little shopping for the afternoon. We got back to the cabin and had a yummy dinner that we had put in the crock pot earlier that morning then had a 'friendly' game of ladder ball with couples being teams. Ben had printed up a bracket schedule so it was very well organized. It was double elimination. Randy & I lost our first round but came back to win the second before falling out of competition in the third round. Ben & Marsha ended up winning (we might have to review how that happened Ü) and took home the trophy.

Sunday morning we got up and held our own church meeting before heading for home. When I heard Marsha & Ben were planning something like this I thought it would be a silly, joking-around type activity but I was pleasantly surprised. Ben started by playing a video/talk by Jeffery R. Holland which was really nice, then Brent talked about the story of Korihor in the BofM and Luke finished off with a lesson on pride. It lasted about 45 minutes and was actually really nice. My family can be really crazy and silly most of the time but it was fun to get serious with them and talk about spiritual things for a while. It's nice to know that we are an eternal family and I love them all. Thanks for a wonderful weekend. We had a fabulous time!
